The infirmary at Stachtenbaste is an outbuilding tucked against the main building, its air perpetually tinged with the scent of boiled comfrey and old blood. The most frequent visitors are trainees nursing bruises and broken bones from brutal training sessions. It also serves as the intake ward for new conscripts, many of whom arrive ill, underfed, and traumatized from their journey. The fortress boasts a small number of magical healers reserved strictly for officers and visiting Aurenclaste, but the daily work falls to the matrons, whose knowledge of poultices, splints, and stitched flesh is unmatched. The infirmary is a place where are mended just enough to be sent back into the fray.
