Province Capital: Fracidaem
Geographical location and terrain: Eastern Aurelia, forested and mountainous
Chief god or goddess: Feuerignis, god of fire and Proelian, god of war
The blade of Aurelia both in geography and in might, Bellatorius is a forested province whose rugged terrain and volatile border with Sarenaveld have bred a people as hardened and proud as the land itself. Dense stands of towering pines and ancient oaks shroud moss-laden understories, and mist clings to the earth at dawn and dusk as though the forest itself were listening. Harsh winters bite with wind and snow, while cool, damp summers hum with insects beneath the canopy. Local authority often rests in the hands of military commanders or Gold Council-appointed officers, and the province’s wary inhabitants hold a deep mistrust of outsiders—especially the capital. Bellatorius is also home to Stachtenbaste, the infamous conscription and military training fortress whose shadow looms over the province and its people alike.
Province Capital: Portaeli
Geographical location and terrain: Northern Aurelia, mountainous and snowy
Chief god or goddess: Luftella, goddess of the skies
Caelias is a realm of perpetual winter where jagged mountains and frozen valleys lie under snow and ice all year. Inhospitable to most life, it endures howling winds and pale, fleeting daylight, yet its depths yield the metals upon which the kingdom depends—iron, copper, and rarer alloys mined from labyrinthine tunnels. The few who call Caelias home are as unyielding as the land itself, enduring harsh labor and bitter cold with stoic resolve. But the province is equally known for Sühneferme, a remote and unforgiving labor camp where convicts unfit for Stachtenbaste’s military are condemned to work the mines; here, the frozen earth exacts a price in blood, breath, and spirit for every ingot wrested from its grasp.
Province Capital: Fenbourg
Geographical location and terrain: West Aurelia, coastal
Chief god or goddess: Aquaemus, god of the sea
Aurelia’s chief shipping and maritime province, Navisia stretches along the rugged western coast where the vast Oremer Ocean meets sheer cliffs, hidden coves, and winding estuaries. Its steep terrain gives rise to multi-tiered cityscapes—most strikingly in the capital, Fenbourg—where narrow streets twist between terraces overlooking the restless sea. Salt spray drifts inland, clinging to stone and skin alike, while thick ocean fog rolls ashore at dawn, veiling the province in shifting hues of gray and blue. Bordered by Caelias to the northeast, central Vallaurium to the east, and Verdantia to the southeast, Navisia thrives on the lifeblood of trade and seafaring, its harbors bustling with vessels that bind Aurelia’s distant corners together.
Province Capital: Embrathal (capital of Aurelia)
Geographical location and terrain: Central Aurelia, valley with greenery, rivers, mountains, and hills
Chief god or goddess: Levitia, goddess of life and Mortuua, goddess of death
Vallaurium, the political, spiritual, and symbolic heart of Aurelia, lies at the kingdom’s center, where all roads and decrees converge before radiating outward. Temperate and lush, its springs blanket the valley floor in wildflowers, while autumn drapes the land in gold and mist that softens even the grandeur of Embrathal, the bustling capital of stone streets, gilded balconies, and whispered intrigues. Here stands Aurumstein, the monarchy’s seat—a towering castle of golden stone and iron gates—and the Temple of the Blessed Sisters, a mountain marble masterpiece in honor of Levitia and Mortuua, the twin goddesses of life and death. Vallaurium is where Aurelia’s fate is shaped in equal measure by ceremony, ambition, and the quiet turning of hidden gears.
Province Capital: Terraflore
Geographical location and terrain: Southern Aurelia, rolling green hills
Chief god or goddess: Erdia, goddess of the earth
Verdantia, Aurelia’s southernmost province, is the kingdom’s fertile heartland, where gently sloping hills, winding rivers, and patchwork fields yield the grain, fruit, and herbs that feed the realm. Sun-warmed and temperate, its long growing seasons fill the land with sprawling orchards, golden sunflower fields, and endless rows of crops tended by calloused hands, while glowing greenhouses gleam like jewels in the dusk. Yet beneath this pastoral abundance lies deep inequity—non-magical farmers toil under crushing taxes, while the magical elite hold the land and its wealth. Mild winters and vibrant springs make Verdantia the most verdant corner of Aurelia, crowned by Racindra Temple, Erdia’s legendary hill-top sanctuary where the sacred Tree of Renewal stands in eternal bloom.
